Original cartoon from which a second cartoon is made for cutting out pattern pieces. |

Once all the pieces are cut and fit properly, each piece is edged in copper foil. The copper foil is the only thing solder will stick to. |

Everything is foiled and put back in place. |

Soldering is done on the front and again on the back. |

The glass bowl contains flux, a mild acid painted on the solder lines to clean the copper enough to accept the solder. |

The rigging is added using brass wire of different thicknesses. The masts are copper U channel widened gradually to mimic real masts. |

Glass pennants are edged in foil and soldered to wire. They are then inserted into the hollow masts, allowing for movement left or right. |
